Alterations Tailor

No.1 Savile Row, London

With three Royal Warrants to our name, at the prestigious address of No.1 Savile Row, Gieves & Hawkes maintains its position at the heart of English tailoring.

Overview of Role: To carry out alterations to Made to Measure and RTW clothing.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  1. Meet deadlines
  2. Carry out all types of alterations
  3. Press all seams flat
  4. Re-stitch all seams faultlessly
  5. Press garment after alteration has been completed

Experience and Knowledge:

Complete and full understanding of all types of garment construction and knowledge of all hand-sewing skills with a natural ability as well good machine control and aptitude. Can work with a variety of people, can problem solve and forward think.

Sales Associate, London (Mandarin Speaking)

Overview of Role: You will represent the best of British through delivering a high level of customer service and Clientele management in order to encourage repeat spend and brand loyalty. You will also be acting as an ambassador of the brand in line with business goals and achieve sales targets as outlined by your line manager, supporting the overall growth and profitability of the store.

Overview of Role: We have an amazing opportunity for a Full-Time Sales Associate to work in our store based in Birmingham.

Product Developer – 9 Month Maternity Cover – Potential to extend

Head Office, London

Overview of Role: We are looking for an experienced Product Developer to join our Head Office team to cover Accessories and Knit development. Reporting to the Product Development Manager and working with the Product Development team and European sourcing office, to oversee the development of the casual categories in line with the Critical Path calendar to ensure Seasonal Collections are delivered on time and within budget to the quality levels required.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Responsibility for all areas of the product development cycle for products within designated remit. This includes materials and components required for product categories, ensuring sample collections are developed and delivered to the required timescale, business cost & margin targets and within the Sample Budget
  2. Ensure quality of product is maintained to the highest level across fabrication and fit through to production with support from the Garment Technician and Sourcing team
  3. Ensure all key development dates are maintained in line with the Critical Path, and flag up all necessary queries and risks
  4. Maintain and develop strong key relationships and initial cost negotiation with vendors, suppliers and factories in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, championing effective relationships
  5. Lead and develop strong relationships with the Sourcing team in Italy and the Asia Buying team in Hong Kong
  6. Maintain and develop strong relationships between the teams in the wider Creative team (design and merchandising) as well as the wider business (finance, retail, warehouse, IT, HR, finance).
  7. Work closely with and support the Product Development Manager and Head of Buying & Merchandising in driving the product development cycle
  8. Lead the development of the Casual departments to improve efficiencies and productivity
  9. Liaise with fabric and trim suppliers ensuring sampling orders are on time and to the required quality level with costs and order quantity minimums effectively negotiated
  10. Manage and lead fit meetings with the support of the Garment Technician, logging comments and ensuring clear and accurate updates are communicated to suppliers
  11. Manage the Product Development Assistant to ensure data accuracy is maintained across Seasonal Linelist, Cloth List and in the Pre Production system
  12. Coach, lead and develop the Product Development Assistant to achieve their objectives and deadlines as well as their personal and career development
  13. Ensure own development needs are highlighted and supported

Sales Associate, Liverpool (13.5 hours, per week)

Sales

  1. Support the store to achieve company budgets through the achievement of your KPI targets
  2. Protect the company’s profit by selling stock accurately
  3. Drive Sales in your assigned category through using the selling through report

Service

  1. Welcome and acknowledge customers as they enter the store
  2. Have excellent product knowledge, providing accurate information of the features and benefits to the customer
  3. Determine the needs of the customer and deliver supportive advice
  4. Maintain a high level of personal presentation in line with company dress code, as well as good personal hygiene and grooming standards
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt service requirements to the customer

Communication

  1. Speak to staff and customers with courtesy and respect
  2. Handle any complaints with a positive and proactive approach
  3. Build productive trusting relations with colleagues and customers

Operations

  1. Ensure the store is kept clean and tidy, ensuring it adheres to VM company standards at all times

Requirements

  1. Ideally 1 year’s retail or sales experience, preferably in the luxury industry
  2. Have a basic understanding of selling principles and customer service
  3. To be fit and able to stand for prolonged periods of time
  4. Confident to approach and interact with customers
  5. Experience working with tailoring or ability to outfit build and style
  6. To have a basic understanding of Tailoring, Made-to-Measure & Bespoke services or ability to learn it
  7. Proficient in English
  8. Basic level of Mathematics

E-Commerce Assistant - Maternity Cover

Head Office, London

Overview of Role: As E-commerce Assistant, you will be a fundamental support in the implementation of the e-commerce and digital strategy for Gieves & Hawkes. You will act as a bridge between the digital marketing activities and the wider marketing and PR strategy.

Main Responsibilities

E-Commerce & Website

  1. E-commerce coordination: Work alongside the E-commerce Manager and Merchandising team to coordinate and prepare new season launches online
  2. Day-to-day website management: Ensure key activities and dates are reflected on the different pages of the website. This includes update of key marketing dates, job listings, G&H store list, monitoring of bugs on site and helping test site development
  3. Organisation and management of E-Com photography shoots: preparation of stock/samples, booking vendors and making sure all images are to specification
  4. Copywriting organisation and uploading of products for the site
  5. Ensuring all content and website changes are communicated with Hong Kong E-Commerce team
  6. Copywriting organisation and uploading of products for the site

  8. Content management: Work alongside the E-com & Digital Manager and the marketing team to keep the G&H ‘Journal’ up to date
  9. Onsite merchandising and ensuring all products have a ‘Recommended Wear With’ section
  10. Customer Service: Assist with customer service queries and work with stores to make sure we have a smooth customer experience

Digital Marketing

  1. Email campaign creation, experience with Mailchimp a plus, working with the E-Com & Digital Manager and the Marketing team on weekly email communication
  2. Work with the Graphic Designer to create graphics for display advertising
  3. PPC advertising copy amendments and support where required
  4. Implementation any SEO improvements e.g. meta tags

CRM

  1. You will be responsible for data management and use of the G&H CRM activities
  2. Work with the Marketing and Retail teams to provide customer data required for any brand and regional marketing activities
  3. Data management and collation for retail data agency

Requirements

  1. Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite – in particular Excel
  2. Educated at an A-level or higher standard
  3. Excellent verbal and written skills, important for copywriting and customer communication
  4. Experience of working in an administrative position where accuracy and timeliness are key to the role
  5. Writing skills to a high level
  6. Magento & Google Analytics experience preferable but is not essential
  7. Competency in HTML coding desirable
  8. Competency in Adobe Photoshop desirable
  9. Highly organised with an ability to multi-task
  10. A keen eye for detail and an eagerness to learn
  11. A natural team ethic and well-rounded interpersonal skills
