By Royal Appointment

By Royal Appointment

A Royal Warrant of Appointment is a mark of recognition granted to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services to the Royal Household. It is among the most prestigious endorsements a British company can hold.

Gieves & Hawkes has held Royal Warrants continuously since George III in 1789, an unbroken thread of royal patronage spanning more than two centuries. Today the Company's Royal Warrants stand in recognition of unrivalled quality and service.

The Queen's Boat Cloak

The Queen's Boat Cloak

In 1953, Gieves & Hawkes famously made the late Queen Elizabeth II's boat cloak, commissioned by the Admiralty. The garment was immortalised in Cecil Beaton's celebrated portrait of Her Late Majesty, one of the most iconic royal photographs of the twentieth century.

The boat cloak remains a symbol of the deep and enduring relationship between Gieves & Hawkes and the British Crown, a connection built on trust, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Dressing Generations of Royalty

Dressing Generations of Royalty

The Prince of Wales, now King Charles III, his grandfather King George VI and great grandfather King George V have all been dressed by Gieves & Hawkes, as have Princes William and Harry.

Over the years Gieves & Hawkes have tailored clothes for the royal houses of Denmark, Norway, Yugoslavia, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Romania, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Jordan, Iraq, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand and Tonga as well as the Aga Khan.

This extraordinary breadth of royal patronage, spanning continents and centuries, reinforces Gieves & Hawkes' unparalleled pedigree and international standing.

A Living Tradition

A Living Tradition

The Royal Warrant is not merely a historical distinction. It is a living endorsement, renewed and upheld through continued service to the Royal Household. It demands the same standards of quality, reliability, and discretion that first earned the Company this honour in the reign of George III.

Our global headquarters at No.1 Savile Row continues to serve as the epicentre of a British luxury brand dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, with the Royal Warrant standing as the highest recognition of that commitment.
